Workshops and Conferences
Communities are at different stages with respect to tourism development and therefore, they have different knowledge needs. The partners in the TRIP team provide custom workshops and presentations to suit community needs. In the past, we have conducted presentations on signage, innovative tourism practices, branding and marketing, research and product assessment. We can also develop customized workshops to provide an opportunity for tourism stakeholders to engage in dialogue and learn about different components of tourism. For example we have conducted workshops on community branding, aboriginal tourism, signage audits, heritage tourism and community story telling.
BC Parks and Protected Areas Conference
One of the greatest draws to rural areas of the province are our Provincial Parks and Protected Areas. In 2006 and again in 2008, TRIP is supporting the University of Northern BC to host a conference on Parks and Protected Areas Research. The conferences bring together researchers and managers in parks and protected areas to exchange information. The 2006 conference was a tremendous success in Victoria and plans are underway for the 2008 conference which will be held Dec 1 - 3rd in Prince George. For more information on the conference, you can link to the BC Parks and Protected Areas Research Forum at: http://www.unbc.ca/bcparf/ or contact Pamela Wright at UNBC at Ph: 250-960-6353
