LIRN events seeking Expressions of Interest from communities

Last year many rural communities in BC utilized the LIRN (Learning initiatives in rural and northern BC) as a way to learn about topics relevant to their community.  A number held workshops on tourism related topics (see presentations in TRIP for ideas from Quesnel, Ft St James and Grand Forks).

This year the LIRN partnership has expanded to include 6 partners: Canadian Rural Partnership (Rural Team BC), Service Canada, Self Help Resource Association of BC, SPARC BC (Community Development Education Program), BC Healthy Living Alliance (Community Capacity Building Strategy) and BC Healthy Communities. Enterprising non-profits

Enp is a funding program that provides matching grants to non-profit organizations in BC that are interested in starting or expanding a social enterprise business. If you want to learn about social enterprise, then this workshop is for you! The funding program from enp allows organizations to conduct planning activities related to the development of a business venture and accepts grant applications two times per year in spring and fall. To apply for funding, organizations are required to attend this one-day orientation session.

Tourism BC's Research & Planning department conducts research to produce various publications including the BC Tourism Indicators, International Visitor Arrivals, International Market Research, Value of the Visitor Centre Reports and Travel Activities and Motivations Study Reports.
