The Community Mapping Network links together mapping data from many sources: municipal, provincial, and federal government, as well as collecting new data. The collection of new data is a very important part of the CMN because though there is a large amount of data already available, there are invariably gaps that need to be filled in. CMN will also aid communities in making the results of a project accessible. Anything that is mapped can be linked to new tools such as Google Earth. This technology has many possibilities within the tourism industry.
