"There is a need in rural BC for more than just better promotional materials. There needs to be more product development that will lead to market ready product."

Coastal Extension Tour-2008

kzanIn 2008, the TRIP team conducted a very successful extension tour along the northern coast of BC.  Eight university and college students from the TRIP education partners joined  Pat Maher of UNBC, Dan McDonald (VIU) and Nicole Vaugeois (VIU) on the three week adventure in learning. Together, they engaged in dialogue about tourism development, participated in field work and shared resources to assist stakeholders involved in tourism development.

The team of students included:

Tracy Simpson (VIU), Jody Young (VIU), LA (VIU), Megan Fisher (VIU), Diane Weatherston (COTR), Sandra Borton (TRU), Amber Faktor (UNBC) and Courtney Worsely (UNBC). A great group with diverse backgrounds.

The final report from the extension tour is available for download below. Everyone that the team met will be sent a copy and it will also be posted under reports on this site for open access.  Information will also be shared with TRIP partners to ensure that the voices of those who shared their perspectives are mobilized further.
